Pastor from Sutherland Spring, Texas Leads Prayer

On Their Knees at the US Capitol for the 2018 National Day of Prayer

The Thursday (May 3) evening streaming telecast on Daystar of 2018 National Day of Prayer (“Pray for America – Unity”) from the U.S. Capitol Building was a service filled with many speakers, prayers, songs, and much emotion.

The evening’s MC was Rev. Ronnie Floyd, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention. He was joined by a diverse group of evangelical leaders. Music was supplied by the renowned Brooklyn  Tabernacle Singers.

A high point of night was the appearance of Pastor Frank Pomeroy and his wife, Sherri, of First Baptist Church of Sutherland Spring, Texas. Rev. Floyd interviewed them about their recent tragic experience. Later Pastor Pomeroy lead the session in prayer about violence in public places. Floyd ask the attendees to go to their knees and pray.

The unity prayer service was just one day before the six-month anniversary of the church shooting that took the lives of 26 members of the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs.

Among the members killed was Pomeroy’s 14-year-old daughter, Annabelle, who was at the Sunday church service on Nov. 5.

As a follower of Jesus, he has been for some 40 years a member of First Presbyterian Church - Aurora.
