Suburban Methodist churches to host Christmas Story Caravan

BATAVIA, Ill., Nov. 20, 2020 — Three Fox Valley United Methodist churches will host a drive-thru Christmas Story Caravan from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.

The public is invited. Admission is free. Visitors are invited to drive church-to-church, experiencing the story of Christmas with an outdoor activity and freewill mission collection at each location.

Participating churches are Batavia UMC, 8 N. Batavia Ave.; UMC of Geneva, 211 Hamilton St.; and Baker Memorial UMC, 307 Cedar Ave. in St. Charles.

At Batavia UMC, an angel, mural and music will reflect the “Rejoice with Hope” theme. Mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and leggings will be collected for local charities.

At UMC of Geneva, a live nativity pageant with actors, animals and music, will perform the theme “Receive God’s Love.” Donations will be accepted for Heifer International, a nonprofit that works in 21 countries to end hunger and poverty by providing livestock, training and related services to small-scale farmers.

At Baker Memorial UMC, a prayer tree, lumninarias and music will be offered on the theme “Share the Light.” Monetary donations will be accepted to support Clara Biswas, a UMC missionary who serves Cambodian street children and their families.
