Wanted: Volunteers to help open Habitat ReStore

MONTGOMERY, Ill., Aug. 13, 2020 — Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers to help open its ReStore at 2302 W. Indian Trail in Aurora on Sept. 25.

Julie Clark, Habitat volunteer coordinator, said “We have been working diligently picking up donations and organizing inventory with the goal of opening our doors Sept. 25

“Our hard working ReStore staff needs energetic volunteers to help them out with the many projects that are underway!

“We know there are concerns with COVID-19 and we are making sure that all employees and volunteers are working under safe circumstances. We will have all PPE and safe distancing rules in place at all times. Volunteer will also working in a large area and work independently if they wish.

“Volunteer shifts are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

“We need volunteers to assist with cleaning, unloading donations and prepping and organizing donated items. And volunteers will get a sneak peek at what will be available when we open Sept. 25!

Clark added, “If you can only volunteer for a few hours at a time, just let us know and we will work with you!”

According to Clark, volunteers should wear pants, lightweight t-shirts and fully closed toe and heel shoes.

For safety reasons, only eight volunteers per day can be accommodated. All volunteers must sign up in advance to participate. Volunteers age 17 and older are invited. Minors are required to have adult supervision.
