Wayside Cross Ministries accepts donations of any shoes… new, old or “ugly”

AURORA, Ill., June 12, 2019 — Have some old or “ugly” shoes… don’t throw them away in your garbage basket. Give them to an Aurora ministry. Wayside Cross Ministries accepts “all shoes” for its Hope Chest stores and recycle program.

Please join us in thanking 16 yr. old Arnav Aggarwal and is friends for doing a neighborhood shoe collection for Wayside Cross Ministries. Arnav is the president of a local chapter of Shoecyclists, a National Club that is dedicated to collecting shoes for the homeless and shelter population. The annual collection takes place one month in a year where they go house to house to collect unwanted shoes in people’s homes. He has been doing this now for three years. In total, these teenagers collected about 400 pairs of adult shoes another 70 pairs of children’s shoes for our family life center and Urban Youth ministries. Whatever doesn’t get utilized immediately will be placed in our two thrift stores to be sold. Proceeds support our homeless shelter and recovery programs in Elgin and Aurora.

The idea behind Shoecyclists.org came after learning 300 million pairs of shoes find their way to American landfills each year. They thought they could be put to better use by people that need them right here at home and Wayside provides help and hope for people in need throughout the Fox River Valley.

Thank you Arnav and team for making a difference once again at Wayside!

So give WCM your shoes today! View donation options at their website… https://www.waysidecross.org/donating-goods/
