Aurora church answers prayers of Oswego congregation

AURORA, Ill., July 31, 2020 — An Oswego congregation has found a temporary worship site at an Aurora church.

Aurora Advent Christian Church, 905 N. Edgelawn Drive, will loan its lawn for weekly outdoor worship services by Redeemer Community Church of Oswego starting Sunday, Aug. 2.

Rev. Matt Mull, Advent senior pastor, said “We are excited to host Redeemer Community Church starting this week. They will be setting up a tent (40 by 100 ft.) and holding outdoor worship services on our property at 4 p.m. on Sundays.

“They had been meeting at Plank Middle School in Oswego prior to the ‘stay-at-home’ order and have been praying for a new place to gather. Please pray as we consider how we might partner with them in the future.”

Social distancing guidelines will be observed. A “Super Safe Zone” will be available for persons with health vulnerabilities or those seeking to keep more careful social distance. Congregants are invited to bring personal shade umbrellas.

Safe Zone seats can be reserved by emailing JPoel@redeemercom.org.

A church statement said, “August 2 is our first gathering at Advent Christian and we are designing this to be a simple service. We will be gathering on Sunday afternoon for outdoor worship!”

Founded in 1988, Redeemer’s vision has been to see lives transformed by the power of the gospel to the glory of God. The church focuses on Christ-centered worship, drawing near to God in prayer and praise.

Church leaders include Josh Fenska, preaching pastor; Josh Anderson, discipleship pastor; and Tim Tatum and Mike Wiersema, pastors.
