Aurora Lutherans to stage first live nativity
AURORA, Ill., Dec. 3, 2019 — Our Savior Lutheran Church, 420 W. Downer Pl. in Aurora, will stage its first live nativity performance Saturday, Dec. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The public is invited. Admission, parking and refreshments are free.
The live nativity will be held on the church’s east lawn. Cast members will include Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, wisemen and shepherds. Costumes will be provided for the public to participate.
Animals will include three horses costumed as camels, sheep, goats, alpacas, donkeys, cows and mini-horses.
The church will be open for visitors to enjoy fellowship with Our Savior friends and family. The Fox Valley Philharmonic will provide special music and nativity sets will be on display in Krentz Chapel.
A craft table will be offered for children and stories of handmade Chrismon ornaments will be shared. Chrismons are Christmas decorations with Christian symbols on them. The word Chrismon is a combination of Christ and monogram, meaning symbol.
Refreshments will include hot chocolate, coffee and cookies. Donations will be collected for Lifespring Ministry, an Aurora shelter for women and children.
Christie O’Connor, church office administrator, said “We are so excited as this is a first for our community. This is a family-friendly event! We expect about 200 people to attend.”
