InterFaith Aurora Presents ‘One Aurora: Community. Diversity. Empathy.’ A Thanksgiving Celebration of Music, Friendship

AURORA, Ill. – On Sunday, Nov. 24, at Society 57, 100 S. River St. in Aurora, from 3 to 5 p.m., InterFaith Aurora will host its 12th annual “Thanksgiving Celebration of Music and Friendship.”

The public is invited. Street parking is free. A freewill collection will benefit the Neighbor Project in Aurora, a nonprofit dedicated to helping low to moderate income families reduce debt, build credit, save and ultimately buy their first homes.

Songs and religious praise from diverse congregations throughout the Aurora area will be featured. The theme is “One Aurora: Community. Diversity. Empathy.”

“This celebration is the consummation of our year-long activities where different faith communities work to bring understanding, inclusion, awareness and friendship of each other in order to work toward a more harmonious and just community,” said Tammy Helfrich, the organization’s coordinator.

There will be readings from members of the Baha’i, Jewish, Sikh, Muslim, Hindu and Christian communities, music from the choir of the St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, a multi-community choir and much more. The celebration is open to the public.

Light refreshments will be served after the event, and offerings raised from the celebration will be donated to the Neighbor Project in Aurora, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low to moderate income families reduce debt, build credit, save and ultimately buy their first homes. Their vision is to see healthy, strong and stable neighborhoods brought about by positioning working families to be the primary drivers of community growth.
