Alderman Judd Lofchie of the 10th Ward voted against the grant application. He expressed concerns about the priority of playground equipment as part of the requested park grant. Other grant funds would be used to fix and upgrade the park’s existing water spray splash. An additional concern for Lofchie was related to the on-going issue of the park and playground equipment and registered sex offenders at nearby Wayside Cross Ministries (WCM).

Alderman At-Large Bob Connor and other aldermen noted that this is just the beginning of a process and concerns about McCarty Park playground equipment can be addressed at a later date.

The evening’s public comment time featured three individuals who expressed  support for WCM and opposition to the park grant . The individuals were Mike Mueller, Mary Ann Vincent, and Sharon Slaughter.
