Aurora chili cookoff to benefit refugee agency
AURORA, Ill., Jan. 11, 2019–Eight Fox Valley restaurants will compete in a second annual Chili Bowl cookoff to benefit World Relief DuPage/Aurora, an agency that serves refugee and immigrant families.
The cookoff is Saturday, Jan. 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Gillerson’s Grubbery and Endiro Coffee, 33 W New York St. in Aurora.
The public is invited. Ticket sales will benefit World Relief’s life-changing services for refugee and immigrant families in DuPage and Kane Counties. The goal is to raise $5,000 to support a citizenship clinic to help immigrants apply to become citizens.
For a $15 donation (children 8 and under free), diners will receive a sample cup of chili from each competing restaurantaa and vote for a winning restaurant.
Competing restaurants are Gillerson’s Grubbery, Endiro Coffee, Beebee’s Deli and Tredwell Coffee, Aurora; Burger Social, Wheaton; and Burger Local, Craft Urban and Altiro, Geneva.
