Aurora Literacy Center seeks donations on Giving Tuesday
AURORA, Ill., Nov. 15, 2018–Aurora’s Dominican Literacy Center invites donations on Tuesday, Nov. 27, through Giving Tuesday, a national online social movement.
Center director Sister Kathleen Ryan, said “Giving Tuesday inspires people to give back after Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and gone. DLC donors can do good, quickly and easily.”
Donations can be made by visiting Dominicanliteracycenter.org, clicking on Ways to Help, clicking on Donate through MightyCause and donating via credit card.
According to Sister Ryan, the DLC raised $8,000 in last year’s Giving Tuesday.
The nonprofit center, at 240 Vermont Ave. in Aurora, provides free instruction by volunteers to help 150 immigrant women to learn to read, write and speak English.
Sister Kathleen said, “Please help women and their families learn English by donating $25, $50, $100 or your desired amount.
“Donations will help us provide CDs, ESL and other library books and computer software for women who are making an effort to learn English.”
She said a $100 donation will buy books for a student and a tutor for a year.
