Letter from the Evangelical Presbyterian Church

Did President Trump… Ask Turkey to Release Andrew Brunson?

(Editor’s note: As of 02/08/17 8 p.m. CST there has been no media report of President Trump discussing Andrew Brunson with Turkish President Erdoğan.)

The following is a Feb. 7, 2017, letter from Jeff Jeremiah, Evangelical Presbyterian Church Stated Clerk.

Dear friends,

We received word this morning that President Trump and Turkish President Erdoğan are scheduled to talk by phone at 4:00 EST today. Please pray for this conversation! As I noted yesterday, Trump alone has the power to tell Turkey that if they want to have a conversation about a better relationship with the United States, they will first release Andrew Brunson.

Thank you very much for your response to my message yesterday about our White House petition. I’ve lost count of how many people have said they have signed. Reaction on our social media channels has been incredible—so far, more than 27,000 people have liked, shared, or reposted the article about to get involved.

Unfortunately, soon after we launched the petition we discovered that the signature counter does not reflect an accurate number. We have contacted the White House about this technical problem. In the meantime, please use the White House contact form at www.whitehouse.gov/contact#page to urge President Trump to demand that Andrew be released.

Thank you also for including the hashtag #ForgottenAmericanInTurkey and the Twitter handles @WhiteHouse and @realDonaldTrump in your social media posts.

Thank you again for joining me in bringing Andrew’s situation to the attention of the White House. Please continue to pray for his release, and for Norine’s peace and safety.

God bless you and remember, He is risen!

Jeff
