New level of COVID-19

Kane County Level of Community Transmission has reached “Substantial”

AURORA, Ill., July 31, 2021 – According to the latest COVID-19 positivity rates from CDC (https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view), Kane County has now reached a level of transmission of “substantial”

The Kane County Health Department (KCHD) strongly supports the recently updated IDPH and CDC guidelines (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html) which recommends ever person, including fully vaccinated individuals wear a mask in public indoor settings where community levels are “substantial” or “high”.

Other mitigation reminders continue to be:

-Physical Distancing

-Handwashing & respiratory etiquette

-Staying home when sick and getting tested

“We were aware of the possibility that we would tip the metric and find ourselves at the substantial level since our neighboring counties’ level of transmission were at the substantial level,” said Interim Executive Director Kathy Fosser. “We know we have a positivity case rate that currently exceeds 50/100,000 persons. If we work together, we can regain control of our community to get the metric back down.”
