On Sunday, Jan. 12, Rev. Clyde Galow of Aurora, 91, a retired United Methodist minister, became the first congregant to accept Pastor Rogers invitation. Rev. Galow served as a missionary to Sierra Leone in West Africa from 1954 to 1974.

Rev. Clyde Galow of Aurora, a retired United Methodist minister, speaks Sunday, Jan. 12, on “Who Is This Man?” at Flowing Forth UMC in Aurora.

He recounted accepting Jesus as a third grader in 1937 after listening to “The Old Fashioned Revival Hour,” a gospel radio show (Charles E. Fuller, founder Fuller Theological Seminary). “Jesus is divine” he said to partially answer “Who Is This Man?”

Pastor Rogers’ eight-Sunday sermon series, based on the Gospel of Luke, began Jan. 5 and runs through Feb. 23. Flowing Forth UMC meets at Aurora Christian School, 2255 Sullivan Rd. in Aurora. Worship services are held at 10 a.m. The public is invited. Parking and admission are free.

The sermon series continues with:

Jan. 19: “Way of Life Teacher,” Luke 5:1-11, 27-32

Jan. 26: “Status Quo Defier,” Luke 6:1-11

Feb. 2: “Radical Reformer,” Luke 6:20-49

Feb. 9: “Chain Breaker,” Luke 7:36-70

Feb. 16: “Miracle Worker,” Luke 8:22-56

Feb. 23: “Messiah and Lord,” Luke 9:28-36

Rev. Rogers said, “People who encountered Jesus were constantly trying to figure out who he was and what he was about.

“Even his most dedicated followers were often left wondering, ‘Who is this man?’

“During this sermon series we’ll consider Jesus’ life, message, and ministry as detailed in the Gospel of Luke to seek to discover Jesus anew for our lives today.”
