Aurora flies flags at half-staff in honor of young soldier

AURORA, Ill., Jan. 12, 2020 — Flags have been lowered to half-staff in the City of Aurora in honor of PFC Miguel Villalon, 21. The US Army soldier lost his life yesterday while on duty in Afghanistan.

“In memory of this courageous young hero, we fly our flags at half-staff,” said Aurora Mayor Richard C. Irvin, a veteran of the United States Army who served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. “This is a solemn reminder of his sacrifice and service. We will not forget his bravery and dedication to our nation.”

Mayor Irvin has called for flags on City properties to remain at half-staff from sunset this evening until the first sunrise after PFC Miguel Villalon is laid to rest.
