Candid Conversation on Difficult Issues Needed

Shehab: Radical Islamist Organizations Should Be Banned

April 22, 2019 – Islamic Reform Forum (IRF) vehemently condemns the suicide bombings that targeted churches and hotels on Easter Sunday in Siri Lanka, and left hundreds dead and wounded. IRF also offers its sincerest condolences to the families of those affected, as well as the entire Christian community in Siri Lanka.

We have seen time and time again that hate speech has deadly consequences. Hate speech has a real, tangible human toll and those propagating it must have no voice in our human communities. Siri Lankan authorities have allegedly identified the perpetrators as the disciples of the Radical Islamic preacher R. Abdu Razik who was detained in 2016 on the accusation of inciting ethnic and religious tensions.

At this time IRF calls upon local law enforcement to help secure all places of worship during Friday and Sunday prayers. IRF also calls upon the United States authorities to ban all Radical Islamic organizations that prey on the Islamic immigrant populations, foremost is the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as its affiliates, like the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), the Muslim American Society (MAS), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and the Muslim Student Association (MSA). These organizations spew the venom of radicalism and antisemitism into the minds of young Muslims.

IRF calls for a frank and open conversation on thorny issues that are often silenced in our communities, some of them are White Supremacy, the so-called Islamophobia, and Radical Islamic ideologies.

The IRF is a religious, social, cultural and educational organization that encourages American Muslims to reject Islamism, integrate in the American culture, and work for Islamic reform and a better future in the West.
